I spent my first 28 years living in the great state of Kansas. As a kid, I loved celebrating Kansas Day at school. My boyfriend quized me this morning on everything from the State bird (contrary to popular belief, it is not the Jayhawk) to the State motto. I've still got it! I'm looking forward to traveling down the long stretch of I-70 this weekend to visit my family in Western Kansas. This embroidery piece and custom options are available in my Etsy shop and were previously featured in the Ink Kansas City 2011 Etsy Gift Guide.

This little woodland owl is a texture lover's dream. The little hoot owl was free handed and hand embroidered with thick back stitches in earth toned floss on grey cotton fabric. The direction and depth of the stitches give a feathered appearance. Stretched on a 3" wooden hoop. Wooden easel is included.
I stitched this little owl during my New Years Eve vacation in San Antonio, TX. All supplies were purchased in Kansas City, MO. He is truly a one of a kind as it will would be difficult to duplicate him.

I acquired these remnants and could not let them go unused. This is a Seigaiha pattern, a good omen in the Japanese culture. This 2 piece collection makes a cute burst of color in a nursery or children's room. The art is permanently displayed on 3" miniature embroidery hoops. The set can be hung on a small tack or displayed on a mantel.

Hey Valentine, I love your guts! Mini digestive system and text "I Love Your Guts" is hand embroidered with tight split and back stitches. Stretched on a 6" wooden hoop.
I stitched this piece while flying high above the sky on a commute between Kansas City and Los Angeles. Fabric and supplies were purchased locally in Kansas City. Makes a wonderful gift for your Valentine, quirky friend, medical, or nursing students. A great conversational piece for any room of your home or for your office, especially the restroom. I always get excited about adding to my image publication list but being a HUGE Radiolab fan, I was especially honored about my chromosome chart being featured in a recent artile. Read the full article here.
My love for anatomy and medical diagrams stems from my day job where I am a Medical Social Worker. The connection with our body can sometimes be taken for granted until symptoms occur. Medical art is a fun way to celebrate the delicate inners that make up our bodies.
This large scale diagram is a one of a kind piece. The stitching itself stretches an incredible 15" x 9". The repurposed frame is hand painted in a vivid yellow and measures 16" x 20.5". The piece can be hung by the attached hanger on a small nail or displayed on a mantel.

This incredibly unique art can be displayed prominently in a medical exam room, doctor's office, nursing station, in a quirky living room, and is extremely bathroom appropriate decor.
Cheers to a handy boyfriend! We originally planned to assemble a crate bed found on Pinterest. We live near multiple factories but the crates that we found were mostly unsalvageable. Adam built three large crates and we have the bed of my dreams!
Love is love. An Etsy Valentine's Day treasury list.
